Hi @Scapps

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If your HP Pavilion Desktop (550-047c) is reporting that the CPU fan is not detected, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Power down the computer and unplug it.
  • Open the case and check that the CPU fan is properly connected to the motherboard. The connector should be secure.

Inspect the Fan:

  • Make sure the fan is clean and free of dust. A clogged fan can cause it to malfunction.
  • Check if the fan spins freely. If it’s stuck, it may need to be replaced.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F10, F2, or Delete during startup).
  • Look for any fan settings and ensure that fan monitoring is enabled.

Update BIOS:

  • Check if there's a BIOS update available on the HP website. An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause hardware detection issues.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP desktops usually come with built-in diagnostics. Restart your computer and press F2 during startup to enter the diagnostics menu. Run the system tests, especially the fan tests.
