Hello i checked my motherboard processor upgrade options and the highest one was the Ryzen 7 5700G but since i already have a 3060 i was wondering if i can just upgrade to the Ryzen 7 5700X instead

Hi @Synic

HP's factory BIOS supports Ryzen "G" CPUs. HP would have to add additional CPU support by issuing a BIOS update to do this.

So I don't think you can do a 5700X using the factory BIOS. There is a BIOS update at this Site. I don't see additional CPU support in the "Fixes" section.

Do you have a discrete graphics card in your PC? Edit, you do have a 3060, sorry about that! You would need this if your MB happens to support the 5700X.

Check this Site for a comparison of the 5700G to the 5700X.

I don't see any compelling reason to spend money on this upgrade even if the 5700X happens to work with your MB.

It is your call and your money, the 5700X is around $200.00. No guarantee the 5700X will work with your MB.

Regards
