Hi @dogtec919,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To access the eject function for the DVD/video device on an HP Desktop PC, you have several options. Here are the common methods to eject a disc from your DVD drive.
Using the Eject Button
- Locate the physical eject button on the DVD drive. It is usually a small button located on or near the DVD drive tray.
- Press the eject button. The drive tray should open, allowing you to insert or remove a disc.
Using Windows Explorer
- Open Windows Explorer (File Explorer) by pressing Windows + E.
- Navigate to "This PC" or "My Computer". You will see a list of drives and devices connected to your computer.
- Right-click on the DVD drive. It is usually labeled as "DVD RW Drive" or similar.
- Select "Eject" from the context menu. The drive tray should open.
Using the Command Line
- Open Command Prompt:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type cmd and press Enter.
- In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter.
powershell (New-Object -ComObject Shell.Application).Namespace(17).ParseName('D:').InvokeVerb('Eject')
Replace 😧 with the appropriate drive letter for your DVD drive if it is different.
Using Keyboard Shortcuts (if available)
- Some HP Desktop PCs may have keyboard shortcuts for media control.
- Look for an "eject" symbol (⏏) on one of the function keys (F1-F12).
- If present, press the Fn key along with the corresponding function key to eject the disc.
Using HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant. If you do not have it installed, you can download it from the HP website.
- Go to "My devices" and select your HP desktop.
- Look for an option to manage hardware or troubleshoot the DVD drive.
- Follow the instructions to eject the disc.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
