i am wondering if i can upgrade my hard drive

You have a couple of options:

 

You can replace the 1 TB 3.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA solid state drive (SSD).

 

You would also need a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter to mount the smaller 2.5" SSD where the 3.5" drive is now.

 

Something like this:

 

Amazon.com: ORICO 2.5 SSD SATA to 3.5 Hard Drive Adapter Internal Drive Bay Converter Mounting Brack...

 

Your other option would be to install a M.2 NVMe SSD in the available M.2 slot.
