Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
This older thread (Link) may help you to get to the HDD cage and you may need to buy special HDD Isolation grommets to secure the HDD in the HDD cage.
There are many posts in this thread. Carefully check the entire thread for helpful tips.
You may also need to verify you have available SATA data and power connections to power additional drives. You may need a 3.5 to 2.5 sata adapter if you plan to install a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.
Also, the HP Services Media Library (Link) should now have details on accessing the HDD cage for a Pavilion 790 series PC.
Regards

You made a very strong point. I really hope that @Ackey looks inside because that 790 series boasts the BERKS motherboard, which we all know supports an M.2 SD and up to three 3.5" hard drives using the HP Isolation screws (that you did mention).
In a previous inquiry (from someone else) it was stated that they had the basic setup with an M.2 SSD and the DVD drive. But upon inspection, their were data and power lead for the first hard drive tucked away in the hard drive cage. It should be noted that the data cable (an 8 pin plug) from the motherboard does consist of the first hard drive and the DVD drive.
Here is that link on the cables that were found
