Hi,, Yes i used the SP33313 file. It's the file that has The DosFlash files from the first down load you sent.

So: Sp33313\DosFlash\assignpw.exe-

                                                     dosfm.txt

                                                      flashbin.txt

                                                      patch.opt

                                                      readme.txt

                                                       u7d_0111.bin
is this correct?

I'm hoping the screen shot of the locale file will  be above this one  for some reason some of my replies aren't getting posted.

Hi:

Yes, I see your screenshot.

Those are not the right files.

You may want to go through the format process again and when you are done, copy the Microcode update files I attached below.

The main thing is you now are on the right track!

Hi Paul,, Just tried the new file that you sent and unfortunately same Error message.. I loaded the DosFlash files from SP33313 into the Locale folder after I rebooted the Flash drive again with RUFUS-3.14. I looked at the files and they were the same files as before?

Hi:

Sorry that didn't work either.

The files were the same except the actual Microcode file.

If you look it was 1.11 and not 1.61 like the BIOS update file was.

And you are sure you have a dc7600?

I am completely baffled as to why the microcode update didn't go.

What is the product number on the case?

It is on that silver sticker with the serial number.

HI   Here are a couple of pics of the top of the case tags and inside on the Mother board and the the computer.  SAM_1929.JPGSAM_1931.JPG

Hi:

Yes, that is definitely a dc7600 alright.

I deleted your picture with the serial number and Windows product key as the forum rules prohibit the posting of personal information.  But I did see that you definitely have a dc7600 CMT

If some nefarious person gets a hold of the WXP product key, they can use it on another PC.

Unfortunately, I have no idea why you got the same errors I got when I ran the microcode update file on my dc7800.

I know why I got the error, but I have no idea why you did.

OK one last thing to try before I give up...

Try updating the BIOS within the BIOS.

First of all, just do a dry run and boot into the BIOS and let me know that you can.

To do that, turn on or restart the PC.

Press the F10 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, the same way you pressed the F9 key to get the boot options menu.

Once you are in the BIOS menu, you will see the various tabs.

Click on the File tab.

You should see a 'Flash System ROM' command on the list of menu items under that tab.

Confirm that you can do that, and that you see the File tab and the Flash system ROM command I am referring to.

I took a pic of the Bios access and I am able to access that.
