i recently bought an hp 8300 sff. it came with with kingston 4gb kvr ram. i purchased another kingston kvr module that is supposed to be compatible with the original that came in the pc. after trying to install it apparently its not.
original ram info:

99P5471-011.A00LF

1333 MHz ( PC3-10600 )

1.5 V
The upgrade purchase (model part: 99U5471-025.AOOLF) is the same specs and compatible with the original module on my system, i couldnt be more specific as it wont boot so i cant get more info on it. from what i have read and understood on this forum i believe that not even my original module is supposed to be compatible with my current system.
My questions are. why is the module that originally on my system running? Why is the upgrade module not working on the system if its compatible with the original? or could it be faulty?
thank you.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I did not cross check new RAM specs with your factory RAM.
Remove the factory RAM module. Insert the new RAM module in the same slot.
Check for a successful POST.
If you cannot POST then the new module may be bad.
If the new RAM specs match HP specifications it should work.
I can't see HP providing incorrect RAM specs, it could happen.
Think about this, HP factory RAM works but the new RAM does not work.

thank you for the reply and welcoming me to the forum.
i have tried the steps you have indicated before i made my post.
this is why im asking if the modules are either not compatible or faulty.
thanks again i appreciate your response

Hi
Well, then the new RAM module may be faulty. No POST with only the new memory installed seems to indicate this is a possibility.
Memory modules should be installed in matching pairs on dual channel systems. Exceptions exist but the best upgrade path is to use same manufacturer, timings, and speed when upgrading memory.
Talk to Kingston. See what they think.
