I ordered from amazon.de ADDITIONAL 2 x 8GB RAM sticks, soon to come... to me...

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0091LG13O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A1I69JYW05RBWU&th=1

How should RAM sticks configured(position on the slots/banks),... If keep all 2 x 8GB + 4GB...?

Hi:

Look at chapter 7, page 132 of the service manual for how to best install the memory if you plan to keep the 4 GB chip.

c04224518.pdf (hp.com)

It appears that if you do it right, the 16 GB will run in dual channel mode and the 4 GB chip will run in single channel mode.

I also have the 6200 Pro but mine has 4 x 4 GB of memory in it, so it is all equal and running in dual channel mode.

You would probably be better off leaving the 16 in dual channel and the 4 in single channel, than removing the 4 GB chip entirely.

Populate the black DIMM sockets before the white DIMM sockets.

So, install the 2 x 8 GB in the black sockets and put the 4 GB in the white socket.

Hi:

You'll have to open it up and check.

I have an 8200 Elite CMT which is the upscale model of the 6200 Pro and uses the same BIOS as the 6200 Pro.

Mine came with 1 x 4 GB of memory.

I maxed it out to 4 x 8 GB of memory.

You would install the 2 x 8 GB of memory in slots 1 and 3.

If you leave the 4 GB of memory installed the memory will only run in single channel mode.

If your PC comes with 2 x 2 GB, then you can install 8+2+8+2 and have 20 GB running in dual channel mode.

So, in case

"then you can install 8+2+8+2 and have 20 GB"

Memory slots start with 1 or 0...?

This startup number etc numbers is written on the motherboard in each slot? So start with 8...?

In case now having 1 x 4GB

Better leave PC with 2 x 8GB only, because if leaving 4GB stick as you say --- run in single channel? Correct?

"

The sockets has number in the motherboard?

After put 2 x 8GB memory chips in the 2 Black slots/sockets... in case have 1 x 4GB chip initially, i have to put the 4GB chip in the first white socket, numbered "2"... in the motherboard?

CAN MY PC Max RAM Be 32GB = 4 X 8GB according to:

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-compaq-6200-pro-microtower

or ONLY Max 16GB = 4 X 4GB according HP Manual: p.131

well???

You can install 4 x 8 GB in your PC.

I have 4 x 8 GB of memory installed in my HP 8200 Elite and it works fine.

Page 7 of the Quickspecs at the link below has that information, but it is not listed in the configuration table.

HP Compaq 6200 Pro Series (highspeedbackbone.net)

The HP Compaq 6200 Elite Series supports the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family. Based on a new PC microarchitecture, the processor is designed for a two-chip platform consisting of a processor and Platform Controller Hub (PCH). Unlike previous generations, the processor includes an integrated memory controller (IMC). The IMC supports DDR3 protocols with two independent, 64-bit wide channels each accessing one or two DIMMs.
Two channels of non-ECC unbuffered DDR3 memory with a maximum of two UDIMMs per channel Single-channel and dual-channel memory organization modes
Data burst length of eight for all memory organization modes
DDR3 memory data transfer rates of 1066 MT/s (PC3-8500) and 1333 MT/s (PC3-10600)
64-bit wide channels
DDR3 I/O voltage of 1.5V
Maximum memory bandwidth of 10.6 GB/s in single-channel mode or 21 GB/s in dual-channel mode assuming DDR3 1333
MT/s (PC3-10600)
The largest memory capacity possible is 32GB using four (4) 8GB DIMMs

The memory slots should be labeled on the motherboard but the manual indicates you populate the black slots first.

So, you would want to install the 2 x 8 GB chips in the black slots.

The remaining memory chip can go in the white slot.

I just opened my 6200 Pro, and the first 3 Dimm slots are labeled about 1/2' to the right of end of the memory slots that are closest to the drive bays.  Dimm 4 is labeled about an inch from the end because there is a power connector in the way of labeling it in the same place as the others.

Looking from the bottom of the case on up, they are labeled:

Black Dimm 1

White Dimm 2

Black Dimm 3

White Dimm 4

So, put the 2 8 GB chips in the black slots and the 4 GB chip in the white Dimm 2 slot.

Thank you

For your reply and support

I will await the Crucial RAM Chips and SSD come the following week

If any questions

I will post them here

Keep up great machines and great support...!

You're very welcome.

The 6200 Pro and 8200 Elite are nice PC's.

I even upgraded both of mine from W10 Pro to W11 Pro and they seem to work even better on W11 Pro than they did on W10 Pro.

If you ever want to try that out, let me know because the PC's are not supported for W11 and you can't just download W11 and try to upgrade.

The hardware checker rejects the installation, but there is an easy workaround.
