Hi there,
Like others in the forum, I was extremely disappointed (to say the least) to wake up to a blue screen with "Warning - imminent hard drive failure" on my HP desktop thats only just out of its 1-year warranty. Putting aside the issue that this is pretty poor after just over one year, I now need to replace the HDD before it fails completely.
I found HP's excellent video and photo instructions for how to remove and replace this drive, and it looks simple enough, but it seems to be issing the most crucial piece of info - the physical size of the drive. When I look closely at the photo of the guy removing it, it looks too slim to be standard internal HDD (which I'm told is 3.5 inch??). And when I look at a laptop drive on Amazon (which I think is 2.5 inch??), it looks too small to be that.
As I need to order one asap from Amazon to replace this, I really need to know what to order. As I'm not terribly PC literate apart from using it, I'm not sure which size to buy. I was additionally confused by the fact that it had SSD and standard HDD. |I found a Seagate Hybrid" on Amazon, but wasn't sure oif this was the correct thing.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could enlighten me and let me know what physical size I should be ordering. Thanks in advance.

Hi:
When I enter the product number you posted in the box at the link below... K2G13EA
I get this model number... HP ENVY ALL-IN-ONE - 27-K310NE
http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
And the parts list definitely shows only 2.5" Hard drives of one kind or another.
So, that is what you need to purchase...a 2.5" hard drive of your choosing.
If you plan on using recovery disks to install the operating system, choose a hard drive capacity as large as the original one that died on you, or the smallest capacity of any of those listed in the above parts list.

Hi:
Enter the product number from your PC in the box at the link below, and you should get a list of parts.
The product number can normally be found on the same sticker as the serial number.

Since there are hundreds of model variations of the HP 27 Recline's, I picked a model out of the blue, and the parts list shows 2.5" drives are what you probably need.

Hi Paul, thanks for replying.
we have done CTl-Alt_S and retrieved the product number and the serial number but when we manually add it on the HP site, or use the automatic configurator, it just says NOT FOUND. I have seen 4 different variants on the HP website of the Envy 27, all beginning with K, but I'm not sure what variant ours is. They all look physically similar so I doubt they'd have changed the HDD size, but I'd like to be sure before I press the button and order. Thanks.

You're very welcome.
Please post the product number for your PC and I'll see what I can find.
Or even the full model number will work.
You can also use this guide for how to find the product number/model number...

Paul, Thanks so muchfor your help. Not sure what I was doing wrong but I tried several times and nothing came up. I've just checked on Amazon and I can get a "Hybrid 2TB with SSD" for just over £100, which is double the capacity of the original. Its disappointing that there's clearly a problem with this model (or the batch of drives used?), but at least now I know what to buy. Thanks again for taking the time to help out, its appreciated.
