hp envy 700-214
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP envy 700-214 with the 3.6 I7. I recently noticed it has an msata slot on the motherboard while cleaning. My 500gb HDD in that came with the computer is old slow and I'm pretty sure is on the way to failing 😬. Is the Samsung 860 msata 500gb compatible with this motherboard and OS, will it work as the main boot drive? If not what msata will work ?

Thank you for joining the HP Community

There is no msata slot on the motherboard.

This is the only slot available on your computer

  • One PCI Express x16 (Gen 3.0)

  • Three PCI Express x1 (Gen 2.0)

  • One PCI Express half-length mini card

Not saying you are wrong but this is the HP website picture and my motherboard is identical. Next to the pci expess 16 and behind the others is a white connector with the screw spot for an msata. If it's not msata what is it?
