I have an hp prodesk 600-G1 mini with a 500 GB drive and I need more storage capacity. Can I install an additional 1TB SSHD or other 1 TB or greater hard drive?
Thanks!

Hi,
There are two types of machines, which one is yours (SFF or Tower) ?
For SFF: By looking at its size you know adding anything more is a big challenge. But from its specs, it has
Expansion slots
(1) internal M.2 connector for optional wireless NIC module
(1) internal M.2 connector for optional SSD drive
Bays
(1) 2.5” internal storage drive bay
The 2.5" is occupied by the existing HDD therefore you can only use the M.2 for optional SSD drive. My suggestion:
- Clone the existing HDD to an M.2 SSD (no need to be same capacity) to get better speed,
- Remove HDD and install M.2 SSD,
- Install old HDD as secondary drive (much better to format it before re-install it OR keep it a backup and install 2TB HDD to its bay.
Regards.

Thanks for the response BH. How do I tell if my unit is an SFF or Tower? I am pasting in a link to a youtube clip that shows the HP ProDesk 600-G1:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wb7zZS3QSY
It's a small unit and seems to be tightly packed with parts, but someone told me additional disk could be installed inside the unit.
Expansion slots
(1) internal M.2 connector for optional wireless NIC module
(1) internal M.2 connector for optional SSD drive (Is this where I can install a solid state hard drive?)
Bays
(1) 2.5” internal storage drive bay (I assume this is my existing 500GB hard drive?)
Thanks,
Myron
