Hi @s1nott,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about your HP Victus 15 laptop issue. It sounds like the sudden disconnection might have caused a power or hardware problem. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check the Power Source:
- Ensure that the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Try a different power outlet or use a different compatible power adapter if available.
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove any connected peripherals.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery (if you removed it) and the power adapter, then try turning on the laptop.
Check for Visible Damage:
- Inspect the headphone jack and surrounding area for any visible damage that might have been caused when the headphone jack was pulled out.
- Look for any loose or damaged components inside the headphone jack port if possible.
Power Reset:
- Some laptops have a reset pinhole on the bottom or side. Look for a small hole labeled "Reset" or "Emergency reset" and gently press it using a paperclip or similar tool.
Battery Issues:
- If your laptop's battery is built-in and not user-removable, leave the laptop plugged in for about an hour and then try turning it on again. This ensures the battery gets enough charge to start the system.
Check the Power LED and Indicators:
- Observe if any lights (such as the power LED or charging indicator) turn on when you press the power button or connect the charger. This can help determine if the laptop is receiving power.
Try an External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is related to the display.
BIOS Reset:
- If you can access the BIOS, try resetting it to default settings. This can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that the sudden pull of the headphone jack caused an internal hardware issue, such as a short circuit or damage to the motherboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
