I tried to use the screw that came with the ssd but it didnt fit. it was barely to small. i need help finding out which screw i need to install it. i have a hp 8906 erica6 motherboard

several HP series come with a HP specific M.2 ssd mounting screw/holder in two sizes blue and Black

 

The smaller size HP ones with the black plastic surround are actually M1.6 x 0.35 mm  thread  6 mm long

you can buy a overpriced HP one off ebay, or buy a M1.6x6mm (or 8mm) flathead pan screw for around 30 cents off ebay
