I have the omen 870-213w it has a 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD already. Can I add another SSD without buying a new motherboard? Also, what type of SSD would fit this?

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I see three SATA ports on the MB (Link). Your MB does not support M.2 storage drives.
You have one optical drive and two SATA drives connected now.
You are maxed out.
You could buy a larger SATA SSD to replace the 256 GB SATA drive or look at a PCIe SATA adapter for the open PCIe X1 slot on your motherboard.
