@dr_forgets_alot,

 

Type system information in your Windows search bar, left-click on the System Information App, and you should see something like this (using the PC I am working from right now as an example):

Please check the (alpha-)numerical code it shows to the right of "BaseBoard Product".

 

If it says: 8307, then the best processor you can use is an i7-7700K.  However, if it says: 8437, then you are in luck: go for the i7-8700K!
