Product: p6-2260ea
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an i5-2500k recently, however when I installed it, it gave me an "ERROR: Unsupported CPU detected, PC will shut down in a few seconds". 

My bios is currently AMI 7.12, will a bios update solve this issue?

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

Your MB does not support "K" processors.  There is a BIOS update (Link). But no mention of adding additional processor support.
