I am trying to install a PCIe 2 port USB card and can't find cable number, card number or installation procedure that are not conflicting.  I was told no power source required and also told  you need a cable.  I got a card that has two connectors but don't know which connector is for what or if I need externals power to the card or there are cards that don't require power.   Would like HP part numbers and how to order what is needed.

Thanx in advance

@GLEWIS1950 -- typically, such an add-in card communicates via the PCI-E socket to add two "external" USB sockets.  Just use your normal USB-cable to connect from  one socket to your device (scanner, web-camera, printer, mouse, keyboard, microphone).

Some add-in cards also have an additional USB port directly ON the card.  This is handy if you have a "22-in-1" memory-card reader mounted in a front bay of the computer-case. Run the USB cable from the back of that device to that "internal" USB port, keeping the cable neatly inside your computer's case.

Example: StarTech.com 35FCREADBK3 3.5-Inch Front Bay 22-in-1 USB 2.0 Internal Multi Media Memory Card Reader ...

What is the manufacturer and model-number of the add-in card that you purchased?

Does the manufacturer's web-site have any "Quick Setup" instructions that you can view?

Note that any PCI-E socket transfers a lot of power, such as to a "non-high-end" video-card.

So, your add-in card probably does not need additional power.

A high-end video-card will have its own socket for additional power, directly from the power-supply.
