I have a HP Media Centre m7000 PC. I know it is an old computer, but I was wondering could I install a SSD or is it too old?.

Thanks,

controller2

@controller2 , welcome to the Community.

Here is a video that explains how to change the Serial ATA Hard Drive in your computer.

It appears from the video that there is a SATA power and data cable available.  This should allow you to install a SSD.  However, I am not certain if you will be able to install Win XP on the SSD.  If you buy a Samsung SSD you can try to use their Data Migration software to clone your HDD to the SSD.

Thank you for your reply Old_geekster , I was not sure if I could installed a SSD on its own, or would I have to replace other parts as well, being that it is such an old computer.  Would I be able to install Windows 10 on the SSD?.

Kind Regards,

controller.

You are welcome, @controller2!

Here are the system requirements for Win 10.  They will help you determine if your system is compatible.  HP no longer makes the specifications available for your computer.

Hi Old_geekster, The computer has been lying on the floor in the attic for a number of years, and the cables are  in a bag in the shed . If the computer was lacking one of those requirements, it would be a waste of time and money installing a new SSD. I think a new computer is called for.

Kind Regards,

controller2.

I couldn't agree more with you, @controller2!  Any of the least expensive computers sold by HP will be light-years ahead of the computer.  A new computer is in your future.
