Hi @intex3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP K120 keyboard isn’t working properly on a Windows 7 PC, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you fix it:
Step-by-Step Fix for HP K120 Keyboard Not Working in Windows 7
1. Check Physical Connection
- Make sure the keyboard is firmly plugged into a USB port.
- Try a different USB port on the PC.
- Avoid using USB hubs; plug directly into the PC.
2. Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Look for HID Keyboard Device or Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
- If you see a yellow warning icon:
- Right-click > Uninstall.
- Restart your PC to reinstall the driver automatically.
3. Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Go to HP K120 Keyboard Support Page (search manually if needed).
- Download and install any available drivers for Windows 7.
- Alternatively, use Windows Update to check for driver updates.
4. Test the Keyboard on Another PC
- Plug the HP K120 into another computer.
- If it works there, the issue is with your Windows 7 setup.
5. Enable Legacy USB Support in BIOS
- Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or Del during startup).
- Look for USB Legacy Support and make sure it’s enabled.
- Save and exit BIOS.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
