Hi all,

Does anyone know when the maximum read/write speed that can be achieved on the z240 Tower. I wonder if a PCIe card can be plugged into the board to achieve PCIe 4 speeds. I understand that the single M.2 slot is PCIe 3 speed only. Thank you.

Hi @Pasko1

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Z240 specs can be reviewed Here

The theoretical maximum throughput would be bottlenecked by the Z240's MB chipset and CPU limits.

I don't think you will see PCIe 4.0 reads and writes if you install a Gen 4 NVME drive on a MB limited to PCIe 3.0.

Thanks. It was wishful thinking on my behalf.

Hi @Pasko1

My pleasure.

PCIe 3.0 drives are very fast.

I guess a 4.0 drive would be better if you are working with large data sets.
