Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Added 4GB memory sticks replacing the 2GB memory sticks. System shows 16GB total but only 7.96GB usable. Ran several apps verifying Ram , all show 16GB. The system board supports 16GB 64bit OS, looked at BIOS which shows 4 x 4GB memory sticks installed but only shows 8.196GB total (greyed out). I tried to download a newer BIOS but your site does not show another BIOS available.

what can be done to get this to recognize installed memory 16GB??

Thanks, Wil

Have you tried moving around the RAM to make sure you did not have a bad RAM module or slot? I have also seen where a PSU that was weak was the problem.

Yes I have tried all the physical things you could possibly do, again read what I have posted, the BIOS sees the 4GB memory in each slot 1-4 but the total only registers 8.196GB ..this is a BIOS issue (Firmware) not hardware issue. Where can I download all the BIOS, your site always returns with no new download available..

Memory Memory Capacity 8 GB DDR3 Memory Speed DDR3 1333 Form Factor DIMM 240-pin Memory Slot (Total) 4 Maximum Memory Supported 16 GB

Maybe but not really sold that it is a BIOS issue. The BIOS recognizes 16 GB. If it did not then Windows would not see 16 GB. There are a huge number of Google search returns with the exact same problem and few of them that I have seen recommend a BIOS update. This one is an example. Could it be a BIOS problem? Possibly but my experience tells me that it is more likely a hardware or Windows related problem. Also a long shot but possibly resetting the BIOS with the MB jumper may help. This may help as well. Just trying to offer some ideas.
