I have been trying to upgrade the RAM in my hp pavilion elite hpe-477 with a windows 10 OS, i bought A-Tech 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 Desktop RAM Kit | Non-ECC Unbuffered DIMM 240-Pin Memory Upgrade Modules. They are 1Rx8 versus the 2gb Elpida PC3-10600U-9-10-B0 memory that was stock in the computer does the memory need to be 2Rx8? The computer freezes with the new memory added in during the memory detection part of the DOS like start up.

Hi, @ZadigValdane
Yes, you need the low density 2R x 8 memory.
This should work just fine in your PC...
