@L14N, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to add additional HDDs and a second SSD to your OMEN 45L GT22-2090 gaming desktop:

🔧 Tools You’ll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)
  • SATA data cable (for HDD/2.5" SSD if needed)
  • Mounting screws or brackets (if not already included with your case)
  • Optional: M.2 standoff (usually pre-installed)

🧰 Internal Overview of OMEN 45L GT22-2090

  • Motherboard: Usually supports multiple SATA and M.2 drives.
  • Storage Bay Options:
    • 1x M.2 NVMe SSD slot (used for the pre-installed SSD)
    • 1x additional M.2 slot (varies by model; check your board—most Z690 versions do have a second)
    • 2x 3.5" HDD/2.5" SSD bays in the front-bottom shroud

🥇 Adding a Second M.2 SSD

  1. Shut Down & Unplug the PC.
  2. Remove Side Panel:
    • Loosen the thumbscrew on the left panel.
    • Slide the panel off carefully.
  3. Locate the M.2 Slot:
    • Check near the GPU or above the chipset heatsink.
    • Use the standoff and screw if not already pre-installed.
  4. Install the M.2 SSD:
    • Slide the SSD into the slot at a 30° angle.
    • Press it down gently and secure it with the screw.
  5. Reassemble and Boot.
    • Your BIOS should detect the SSD automatically. Use Disk Management in Windows to format and initialize.

🥈 Adding 3.5” or 2.5” SATA HDD/SSD

  1. Locate the Drive Cage:
    • Bottom-front section of the case.
    • May be hidden behind the front shroud or PSU cover.
  2. Mount the Drive:
    • Slide the HDD or SSD into a tray or mounting slot.
    • Secure with screws on both sides.
  3. Connect SATA Data & Power Cables:
    • Plug SATA power from PSU.
    • Connect SATA data cable to the motherboard (ports are usually on the right edge or bottom-right).
  4. Secure and Close the Panel.

🛠️ Tip

If you’re out of SATA ports or power cables, you may need:

  • A SATA splitter
  • An additional SATA cable (often not included with the PC)

💡 Final Setup in Windows

  1. Boot into Windows.
  2. Open Disk Management:
    • Press Win + X → Select Disk Management.
  3. Initialize new drives (if needed).
  4. Create partitions and assign a drive letter.

  • Ensure BIOS is updated before installing newer-generation NVMe SSDs for best compatibility.
