i am building onto and upgrading what i already have. gonna get more ram, a new power supply, and a gpu. im looking for something 800w+, but i have no idea what will fit my computer.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

 

You didn't provide a whole lot of information, so I am going to fill in the blanks.

 

For example, say you got an HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0040xt (4AB23AV).  As you mentioned in your post, it is powered with a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800.

 

Given the example I provided, the best possible power supply that you can purchase for your desktop would be a 500-watt power supply with p/n: L05757-800.

That would be true for any ENVY desktop.

 

In other words, if you need a desktop that will allow a power supply El Norte of a 500-watt power supply, an ENVY would not be able to go there.
