can anyone answer if the elite 8300 base, supports nvme boot via the pcie slot

I am not a HP employee.

 

Check page 4 at this Service Guide (Link) for your motherboard (MB).

 

I don't see M.2 MB support.

 

No M.2 MB support usually means you cannot boot to a M.2 device using a PCie M.2 adapter card.  This device will be limited to being used as a data drive.
