Hi @jbaird,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

For purchasing a SATA power cable suitable for the HP OmniDesk Desktop PC with an 8D37 motherboard, it is recommended to check with authorized HP retailers or HP's official online store. Additionally, third-party electronics and computer hardware stores may offer compatible SATA power cables. Ensure that the cable is compatible with your specific model and meets all requirements for the installation.

I hope this helps.

When searching online HP retailers and parts stores, I can find numbers for SATA cables, but no images. Further online searches for images (based on the parts store numbers) show them to not be what is needed for the motherboard. There are no online search results for what I am asking. That's why I asked here. I was hoping for a direct contact to someone or some place that could tell me the cable part number to order and where to order if from, or even if such a cable exists. The 4-pin connector on the motherboard appears to be non-standard, looking like something to which a small fan might be attached. I have seen images of cables for Lenovo systems that look like they might work, but there is no way to find out if they are compatible. I would not want to risk frying the motherboard if the cables weren't wired properly.

Hi @jbaird,

The 8D37 motherboard was used in certain HP OmniDesk or business-class desktops and often uses HP’s proprietary 4-pin SATA power header on the motherboard instead of a typical PSU-based power supply line.

This connector often powers 2.5" drives directly from the board using a custom 4-pin to SATA power cable (looks like a mini fan connector on one end and standard SATA power on the other).

You know good and well you people are intentionally hiding this part and will not give any info on it.  I just wasted $1,700 on a new omnidesk paperweight

This is a frustrating issue. One work-around is to use an adapter that is relatively inexpensive, to add another M.2 NVME drive to a PCI slot.  You can search Amazon for "M.2 NVME SSD to PCI adapter". Of course you would have to buy the additional M.2 drive too, but it would not require an extra power connector, seeing as it is powered by the PCIe slot. I have not done this yet, but if I add another drive, this is the way I will do it.

Jbaird,

I appreciate the options!  I believe if I were more patient or understanding I would have utilized those options before returning the paperweight.  From being bounced around on the phone for 3 hours from department to department, I can only surmise that they do not sell this part to consumers unless it is part of a package.  It is a shame because I returned that paperweight and purchased another unit from a competitor and even spent an extra grand.  In sales you can make a customer once or you can make a customer for life and I am dropping hp and I will be outfitting my office with another brand.
