To make a long story short, with help from HP Support Forum, I recently rolled back my Pavilion P6520F from a forced "upgrade" to Windows 10, back to Windows 7. Unfortunately, when I was unintentionally upgraded to Win 10, my usb 3.0 pci card decided to die in the transition (not compatible with Win 10). I replaced the card with a DEGOL PCI-E Express Card USB 3.0 4 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops [ASIN: B01FUE7IS2]. The card loaded and worked like a champ.....UNTIL I reverted back to Windows 7. Now Windows 7 can't find a driver for it, and the supplied driver disc won't load a driver for Windows 7. I contacted the seller and they assured me that the card should be Windows 7 compatible. Is there a generic driver available online for these USB 3.0 cards that I can load to bring my new card back to life? Unfortunately, I threw out the old card, so if I can't revive the Degol card, I'll have to buy yet another new card.
Any advice appreciated!

Hi,
USB drivers for Windows 7 are supplies by the card manufacturer.
You will have to debug the issue if the DEGOL W7 driver fails to load. Generally you will see an error code in Device Manager for your USB card. That might give you some hints.
HP doesn't post drivers for third party hardware.

I'm thinking that, given how inexpensive the cards are, a new Windows 7 guaranteed compatible card is my best solution.
Tried the installation CD again with no success, and Windows 7 didn't like any of the files as the correct driver.
Thanks for confirming what I was already afraid of!
I appreciate your help.

Now the card manufacturer is telling me that the problem is the driver for the slot on the motherboard, not the driver for the card.
"You need driver the PCI interface of your computer motherboard.
The driver is the computer motherboard driver, not the driver of this product."
Now, I'm even more confused. Can you enlighten me?

Have now received a new USB 3.0 card which supposedly is compatible with Windows 7, and I'm still unable to get its driver to load from the included disc or from its website. The error code I'm getting is 28.
Did the Windows 10 upgrade and presumably overheating my original card foul up something on the motherboard?
I'm an HP Pavilion P6520F with an AMD Athelon II X4 635 Processor 2.90 GHz
Any other clues, or am I stuck with my old 2.0 ports (thankfully still working fine) until I finally give up and replace the old machine?
