Microsoft Windows 11

hi

im looking to upgrade my used pavillion desktop i bought from FB marketplace. currently it has a 1660super and a ryzen 5 5600g cpu, along with 32 gigs i upgraded myself. im wondering if the power supply can handle a low profile 4060, and is the psu upgradeable in this first place? along with that, im not too sure if the case dimensions will fit a coolermaster air cooler? another annoyance that came with this is that the pcie slot cover is somehow bent???? lmao its kinda funny seeing it like this, anyways if anyone could help me out with this it would be very appreciated 🙂 thanks!

@certifiedtacker,

Outstanding, exactly what I needed!

Your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (328J0AA / 2Z6C8AV), as fitted with an Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906) and powered by a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L69242-800 ("Power Supply - 400W cDT23 FR Gold"), which is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable.

Your high-quality HP 400-watt power supply will have no issue in powering a low-profile RTX 4060 which has a 115-watt TDP, preferably a model which only requires a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this example.  You should still check its dimensions (L=182 W=69 H=40 mm) for fit inside your case, but that should not be an issue.

Btw, even though you don't need to upgrade your power supply, there is a 500-watt power supply which is compatible with your motherboard with p/n: L05757-800.

And as a sidenote, you could decide to upgrade your processor with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hello! To upgrade your Pavilion desktop:

  1. Power Supply: Check your current PSU wattage and compare it with the power requirements of the low-profile 4060. If needed, upgrade the PSU for better compatibility.

  2. PSU Upgradeability: Some prebuilt systems have proprietary PSUs, limiting upgrades. Check the Pavilion's manual or contact HP support to confirm if PSU upgrades are possible.

  3. Case Dimensions: Measure the inside of the case to ensure it can accommodate a Coolermaster air cooler. Low-profile coolers are often better suited for compact cases.

  4. PCIe Slot Cover: You can replace the bent PCIe slot cover with a new one. They are usually standard and can be found online or at computer hardware stores.

Ensure compatibility and consider seeking advice from forums or contacting HP support for specific details about your Pavilion model. Good luck with your upgrades! 😊
