Hi @Og26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the battery.

If your HP Laptop PC 15s-Fr2000 shuts down immediately when disconnected from the charger even with a full battery, it suggests there might be an issue with the battery or the power management system. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check Battery Health:

  • Battery Report:
    1. Press Win + X and select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)" or "Command Prompt (Admin)".
    2. Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
    3. The report will be saved in a specified location (usually C:\Users\[Your Username]).
    4. Open the battery report and check the battery health information.

2. Run HP Diagnostics:

  • HP Support Assistant:
    1. Open HP Support Assistant.
    2. Go to the "My devices" tab and select your laptop.
    3. Run the "Battery Check" diagnostic tool to see if it identifies any issues with the battery.
  • HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
    1. Turn off your laptop.
    2. Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
    3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    4. Run the battery test.

3. Update Battery Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
  2. Expand the Batteries section.
  3. Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall device".
  4. Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the battery drivers automatically.

4. Perform a Battery Reset:

  • If your laptop has a removable battery:
    1. Turn off your laptop and disconnect the charger.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds.
    4. Reinsert the battery and reconnect the charger.
    5. Turn on your laptop and check if the issue persists.
  • If your laptop has a non-removable battery:
    1. Shut down your laptop.
    2. Disconnect the charger.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds.
    4. Reconnect the charger and turn on the laptop.

Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Og26,

Please find the next set of steps below.

5. Check Power Settings:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
  2. Click on "Additional power settings".
  3. Select your current power plan and click on "Change plan settings".
  4. Click on "Change advanced power settings".
  5. Expand the "Battery" section and check the settings for "Critical battery action" and "Low battery level".

6. Inspect the Battery:

  • If you are comfortable, physically inspect the battery for any visible signs of damage, swelling, or leakage. If you notice any of these, the battery needs to be replaced immediately.

7. Try a Different Charger:

  • Sometimes the charger might not be providing sufficient power or might be faulty. Try using a different compatible charger to see if the problem persists.

You may also refer to this document to test and calibrate the battery.
