Does anyone know if the motherboard on an HP TE01-4000 desktop has a pci-e 4x slot.
I am trying to add a usb c card that requires a pci-e 4x slot and cannot determine if this motherboard can accommodate it.
My newly purchased Logitech Brio 500 webcam does not work in the front usb c port, so I was thinking of adding a usb c card to one of the rear bays. Logitech says that a usb c to usb a adapter will probably not work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Your system has the Renor motherboard
It has an x1 and an x16 slot
You can put a USB-C card in the x1 if the card is x1
If the slot is open ended then an x4 card will fit but will poke out the back of the socket and run at x1 speed. If you do not have a graphics card then you could put the x4 in the x16 slot.
That video cam should have worked in a USB-3 port and possibly in USB-2 but at lower resolution using an adapter.
l suspect that if the cam does not work in your USB-C port it will not work in one that is on an adapter.
Are the USB-C and USB-3 ports defective? Test them using the UEFI diagnostics.
Tap the ESC key after powering on. . Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically. When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics. There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS', Expand the '+' symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button. |

A USB-3 to USB-C should work and so should your USB-C port unless it is defective.

Thank you so much for your help.
I did use the hardware diagnostic program and it did say my usb c port was malfunctioning. I am rerunning the updated program as we speak.
I don't think I will be needing the graphics card slot as I'm not a gamer. The Startech 2 usb c board that I am looking at is 4x.
Either I'll return the logitech Brio 500, or install the Startech board in the 16x graphics slot.
Hopefully, that will solve the problem.
Thanks again,
Sal

For what it is worth, the USB-C port on graphics card is a thunderbolt port and can be used as any type of USB-C
I attached an unpowered USB-C hub to my Nvidia RTX-2070 Super's thunderbolt port and have used flash drive and web cam.
From Google AI:
Yes, the USB-C port on a video card can be used to connect a flash drive. However, NVIDIA recommends using the USB-C port for monitors and Virtual Reality headsets to get the best graphics performance. USB-C is a versatile connector that can transmit power, audio, and video across a single cable. It's also backward compatible with USB-A, the standard USB port on most computers and laptops. To use a USB-A drive with a USB-C port, you can use a USB-A to USB-C adapter or buy a new USB-C drive |
That Bria 500 does not do IR so it cannot be used for "Windows Hello". But then, my TIO24 touch screen monitor lacks IR also.
Even if you are not a gamer, the AMD boards have OpenCL and Nvidia does both OpenCL and CUDA and many productive tools such as Adobe, Nero, Photoshop, DvdFab and a lot of other use those features. Intel supports OpenCL also but not CUDA.
