Could you please explain to me where the power button is on the HP 510 Wireless keyboard?  I have inserted batteries into it (correctly), and my PC recognises the wireless keyboard and wireless mouse as I have inserted the dongle into my PC.  The mouse works perfectly, but the keyboard doesn't do anything.  A diagram would be really useful as the box only explains how to put the batteries in and where the power light is.

@Anomoly1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP 510 Wireless Keyboard does not have a separate physical power button. Instead, it is designed to power on automatically once the batteries are inserted and the dongle is connected to your PC. It enters a low-power sleep mode when idle to conserve battery, and should wake up when any key is pressed.

Since your mouse works but the keyboard doesn’t, try the following:

Check Battery Orientation:

  • Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly (positive and negative ends aligned with the markings inside the compartment).

Confirm Battery Quality:

  • Use fresh, high-quality alkaline batteries. Weak or old batteries may not provide enough power.

Re-seat the USB Dongle:

  • Unplug and reinsert the wireless receiver (dongle) into a different USB port on your PC.

Test Keyboard Response:

  • Press the Caps Lock or Num Lock key and check if the indicator light turns on. This confirms power and connectivity.

Re-pair the Keyboard:

  • Some HP wireless keyboards have a connect button (usually inside the battery compartment). Press it and wait a few seconds to re-establish the connection.

Try on Another PC:

  • This helps determine if the issue is with the keyboard or your current PC setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
