Hello! I need your help. I recently bought an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 processor and at the time of installation everything was fine, but when I turned on the computer the BIOS showed error 1802 The processor is not supported. Any idea why? According to what they had told me, it was compatible (It should be noted that I have the latest version).

I have a Hewlett-Packard 1493 motherboard

My computer is a hp compaq 4000 pro sff

@timbr1,

That is an excellent question, as according to HP's specs, the HP Compaq 4000 Pro SFF is compatible with at least some Socket 775 Yorkfield processors, but only the 65-watt "S" rated ones, whereas the Core 2 Quad Q8400 has a 95-watt TDP:

[EDIT:] Initially I wondered if HP prevented 95-watt processors to work on your PC, but then I noticed HP Compaq 4000 Pro SFF Users who were able to install 95-watt processors such as the Q6600 and the Q9550.

Don't know what to tell you, other than resetting your CMOS and see what happens.

I would be very confident that the Core 2 Quad Q8400S -which has a 65-watt TDP should work.

Also keep in mind that a Core 2 Quad Q9550S (4-Cores, 4-Threads, 2.833 GHz, 65-watt TDP) would outperform a Core 2 Quad Q8400 (4-Cores, 4-Threads, 2.667 GHz, 95-watt TDP).

Kind Regards,
