HP ProDesk 405 G6 Base Model Small Form Factor PC

I'm not really using this PC much, so I'd like to get some simple living room gaming use out of it. (Steam)
Obviously, I cant expect anything too amazing.

So, what options do I have given the very limited case space for graphics upgrade? (seems like 170mm x 75mm)

The original HP upgrade is : AMD Radeon RX 550X 4 GB 1DP 1 HDMI Graphics Card

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06951523#AbT4

But perhaps there is something better these days? but will it fit?

On ebay the rx 550 I found seems 145 x 120 mm, which is too big.

I have the Ryzen 3 4350 model, +16gb RAM. PSU says 210W max (L70043-004)

@Riquez,

An RX 6400 would indeed be a substantial graphics improvement: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-6400-vs-AMD-RX-550/m1834749vs3925 and with a 55-watt TDP can be powered by your power supply.

@Riquez,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Look no further than an RTX A2000 6 / 12GB, which has a 168mm (length) x 69mm (height) and a max 70-watt TDP. This would be the best graphics option for you, also given that you got a 210-watt power supply.  Granted, these cards are a little pricier than your standard mid-range GPUs, but they are worth it every penny/Yen.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks, it's good to know there are some options.

I'm seeing a price between £300 ~ £600 on that card which is way too much for me. At that price I may as well get a PS4 or Xbox for the living room.
I should have mentioned a budget, I didn't expect there would be a card that good on the menu.

Do I have any options in the sub £150 area?

I'm new to this upgrade world to be honest, since im mostly used laptops/macs previously. So my knowledge is lacking.

I've now found RX550 4GB SFF for £109 on Amazon. But I don't know how much of an improvement this would be compared to the on-board graphics.
Also, "Powercolor AMD Radeon RX 6400 Low Profile" is £154 which looks good on paper - dont know it its workable.

🎯ahh, this looks like the best so far: It will fit for sure, but not sure about compatibility.

They recommend 350W PSU, but the board is only 55W

I may want to avoid Nvidia since there is a good chance ill install Linux & I think Nvidia is less well-supported. Although I dont count it out.
I use Linux Manjaro on my laptop & I find it very pleasant to use & steam with Proton runs flawlessly.

Ahh you mention yen! I guess my profile still says Japan? 😀 I actually moved to the UK now, but I did buy this model when I was there.
