HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Well I think the subject line pretty much sums it up, but I guess the the devil is in the details. I would like to know what kind of psu I could replace my existing one with? Baring in mind I plan to upgrade the GPU sometime in the future I am not sure how much power I would need and I am by no meens a whiz when it comes to computers. I am a plug and play person. Also I am also trying to keep the cost down but either way I am thinking I will need at least 400 watts if not more. That is if the board can handle that. So if there is anyone out there with any good ideas on a good psu and perhaps a couple of good options on a nice gpu while you are at it ( preferably AMD) since that is the processor I would greatly appreciate any advise.

Thank you in advance

@st8ting8,

Thank you for the additional info. According to: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=318G5AA, your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C9AV) is fitted with a 180-watt power supply (HP p/n: L81008-800).

There are two power supply upgrade options worth mentioning, a 400-watt power supply (HP p/n: L04618-800) and as @Prométhée hinted at, a 500-watt power supply (L05757-800) :

NonSequitur777_0-1672683284084.png

Both power supplies can be purchased online, here are eBay purchase options for the 400-watt power supply: hp L04618-800 for sale | eBay, and purchase options for the 500-watt power supply: HP L05757-800 500W Power Supply, for 600 800 880 G3 G4 G5. REFURBISHED. IN STOCK (aa2zsupply.com), and: L05757-800 - Hewlett-packard (HP) - Power Supply PSU 500W | Impact Computers.

There may be other online purchase options out there -please check yourself, but the aforementioned purchase links were among the least expensive I could find.

Btw, the 400-watt power supply -most affordable- is adequate to power an HP Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 graphics card for example, as I happened to install one in my most recent upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT - HP Support Community - 8544105.  Graphics card performance is excellent: HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@st8ting8,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Yes indeed, the devil is in the details.

Your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C9AV), according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-2000a/2100367768/model/2100367779/p..., and: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=2Z6C9AV, refers to the HP Pavilion TP01-2155M Desktop PC (20W70AAR).

This desktop is fitted with a 310-watt power supply with HP p/n: L89232-001 ("Power supply unit 310W MT Sirius2 EPA90") and an Erica6 SSID: 8906 motherboard (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07094657) with HP p/n: L56021-605 "ASSY,MBD, Erica6, AMD Cezanne PROM,WIN").

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's verify things.

Please type in: system information in your Windows search bar, and left-click on the System Information App.  You should see something like this (using my PC):

The information I need is boxed in blue.  Please provide.

NonSequitur- Thanks for getting back to me,

Yes I think we are looking at the same pc but with different set ups.

here is what i found

HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2xxx  (not kidding its exactly what is listed)

System Sku 318G5AA#ABA

Baseboard Product 8906

On all the documentation I have from HP including the original I.D. sticker it says TP01-2032.

I have already put in a hard drive to supplement my storage capacity so I kind of am taking them at their word but who knows.

Let me know if there is any thing else you might need.

Thanks,

hi

sorry

I'm just intervening because no response for a while..
The problem here, with this type of computer, is that one reference can affect another, we can see that with this series / given reference, several different models are possible

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-2000a/2100367768/model/2100367779/p...

But then, with your other reference, it fits well with what you mentioned

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-2000a/2100367768/model/2100367779/d...

HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2032 PC Product Specifications

318G5AA

but here

https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=318G5AA

 L81008-800
Power Supply - 180W ENT20 Gold

I leave the answer to @NonSequitur777  of course, for the rest, but you will be limited by the maximum power supply, 500w hp
