HP ENVY DESKTOP - 750-514
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my computer's cpu fan "pulses" when the computer is idle, and the sound of it is driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to stop it?

I've opened the thermal settings in the BIOS. I can see my fan speed cyclically rotating between RPMs of 1070 and 950, with roughly 1 cycle per second. When I stop the fan with my finger, the pulsing sound stops. Unfortunately, the BIOS doesn't seem to have any settings to manage the fan speed, and the motherboard doesn't seem to send information to software like SpeedFan.

Hi @Jason_Jason

Check to see which version of the BIOS is installed.

Download and install the most recent BIOS ver. F.45 Rev.A from the BIOS section of the Driver and Software support page at the link below this line.

Installing the new version may resolve the issue as the BIOS firmware is what controls the processor fan's reaction to a change in temperature near the processor's temperature limits.

I already downloaded the latest version of the BIOS while trying to fix this. It didn't help. Any other ideas?
