HP ENVY 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c1000 IDS Base Model

So I have seen other posts with same situation that I am having and have not really seen a definitive answer or solution to the RAM memory upgrade problem that seems to be plaguing the HP ENVY 34 Inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c1xxx. My computer has the 12th Gen i9 chipset and the RAM used for this model is DDR 5 with a maximum of 128 GB. I purchased the Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 SODIMM 32GB (1x32GB) DDR5 4800 (PC5-38400) C40 1.1V and when I installed it, I get the "Unauthorized Memory" screen like others have described and cannot boot up my computer. I have tried to boot up in BIOS to allow the RAM to be used, but the BIOS menu options do not provide for this option. At least I am unable to find it from menu selections provided. (BIOS Date: 03/07/2023, BIOS Revision: F.10) The motherboard is an Angel 8928 model and the motherboard spec page lists the following in regards to memory...

Memory upgrade information
Dual channel memory (two DIMMs per channel) architecture
  Four DDR4 SODIMM (260-pin) sockets
Supports up to PC4-28800 (DDR5-3600) for 8 GB and 16 GB
Supports up to PC4-32000 (DDR5-4000) for 32 GB
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
NOTE: 32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
Supports up to 128 GB (unbuffered) with four 32 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems
NOTE: Maximum memory shown reflects the capability of the hardware and can be limited further in the          operating system.

(Note: The specs appear to have a max of 4000MHz for 32 GB DDR5 SODIMMs and mine are 4800MHz, but the installed current DDR5 SODIMMs are both 4800MHz and each are 8 GB, so I don't know if this is an issue.)

Is there any way to make my memory function on this computer and if not, where can I find RAM that is compatible? There have been other posts in this community and on the HP website with links to memory, but these are all links to DDR4 RAM and not DDR5 like this Angel board requires.

Finding compatible memory can be a real problem. I personally have returned memory to vendor even after researching what I need.  The problem is not HP but includes all the OEMs.

Here is a warning from Kingston when looking up an HP Omen in their memory finder quote:

I recommend using Windows wmic application  to find out the manufacturer part number and obtain a duplicate.  For example using the command prompt paste the following

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

For example, you would look for part number HP37D4U1S8ME-16XR

You could substitute 4 or 8 for the 16 for smaller memory or 32 for larger.

Hp parts store https://parts.hp.com

If from amazon or ebay then be sure the vendor has a good rating, is in your country, and accepts returns.

BeemerBiker, thanks for the reply. I went ahead and did what you said to do with the wmic application and got this information...Screenshot 2023-07-11 143256 RAM Specs.png

So I searched online for the part number: M425R1GB4BB0-CQKL and got on the Samsung Semiconductor webpage. I searched their SODIMM part search application and changed density to 32GB instead of the 8GB I have and I was then given the part number: M425R4GA3BB0-CQK. So I searched the internet for this part and was able to find it at a few sites including Amazon, but found the best price at Memory.net and ordered from there.

So I am going to see if this RAM works out later this week and will update this thread for others to use. Once again, thanks BeemerBiker for the info and process.

Thank You! These are the results I got back:

I'm trying to make sense of the differences using the SK Hynix DDR4 SDRAM Module Part Numbering

Well I got the Samsung M425R4GA3BB0-CQK 32GB ram stick in and I am still getting the same error. I tried so many different combinations inserting it...

- I tried the 32GB RAM in both the open ports with the other two 8GB RAM still in.

- I tried the 32GB RAM in every DIMM port on its own.

- I tried the 32GB RAM in one of the ports with an 8GB RAM in the other.

- I tried the 32GB Ram in one of the ports and the other 32GB Ram in the other port.

- I tried every possible combination with the 32GB RAM inserted, no luck.

- I even tried the original two 8GB RAM in other DIMM ports & that also did not work.

- The only combination that worked was the original 8GB RAM sticks in their original DIMM ports.

Now I am getting really frustrated and disappointed with how difficult replacing the RAM on this brand new HP Envy 34 All-in-One has become. Here is a pic of the original 8GB RAM on the left and the 32GB RAM I purchased from Samsung. I am really at a loss as to what to do now. Below is a photo of both Samsung RAM with the 8GB on the left and the 32GB on the right. Same manufacturer, same type of RAM...

I managed to find a 16gb sodimm for the 34-c1xxx systems.  I did not find a 32gb one.

The HP part number is N05458-001 and it is used in 8 of the 32-c1xxx systems and is DDR5

There were a lot of 32-cxxxx systems sold. and each and every I looked mentioned ddr5 but listed the angel motherboard which used ddr4.  This is wrong and you might want to complain to HP tech support about the lack of ddr5 recommended memory upgrade.

Anyway some questions:

Were any beep codes given out when booting the 32gb memory?

Did you reset the cmos?

I looked at the latest bios for your system, March 2023, and it mentioned "improved compatibility".

Normally improved compatibility would mean additional Processors or different memory but neither of those were mentioned.  It is always dangerous to flash a new bios.
