The front USB 3.0 ports on my desktop are not functioning properly. The blue plastic guide is missing on one and I get a USB power surge if I try to use them. How do I go about finding a replacement part for this desktop. The front I/O ports include audio/mic and 2 USB 3.0 ports. I could not find a part number for this specific part. Anyone have a suggestion?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you want a replacement for the front I/O ports on your PC,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you check the HP Parts Surfer to obtain the part numbers?
If you haven't, I recommend you do (Click here to access it), In fact, to help you out, I took a step ahead and found these details for you:
647115-012 - Front I/O - 2USB 3.0, HM, PIRATES MT, 3C11 (Universal Part number can be ordered from HP or any local store as well).
Let me know how that pans out
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Thanks! This is the exact solution to resolve my issue (647115-012 Front I/O 2USB 3.0 HM Pirates MT, 3C11). Only problem remaining is finding a replacement part at a reasonable price. I checked the part number you found and that is the correct part but the HP.com/buy/parts indicates the part is not available for sale. I checked on Amazon and nothing available. If I google I get a couple of hits but when I check I get out of stock. Looks like a hard part to come by.

You could try ordering it from the HP Parts Store as well,
If it's out of stock on it as well, I'm afraid you may want to wait.

Thanks Again! (Thought I accepted solution on your first reply) (Didn't offer me option on 2nd reply)
Anyhow, You offered excellent advise is a clear manner. I did check the HP parts store and it indicated the part is not yet available for sale. Guess I will wait and keep searching. In the meantime I will unplug the front I/O ports from the motherboard to avoid getting USB power surge error message.

That said, you could also check the local stores nearby your place for spare parts,
while waiting for availability online.
I hope you have a good day ahead.

Ditto. I've been looking for p/n 647115-012 for several months and they are either unavailable or outrageously overpriced or overseas or both. When the price gets above 1/3 or a new computer, I start thinking of it as a contribution towards a new computer.

I just found one at compupartsolutions.com. We're getting new computers and I'm sending our old ones to a friend and broke the USB connector using a new cable that came with the WD external hard drive. (Didn't work on either computer, but using a different cable did...grrr...) I can't in good conscience send a broken computer.
It was $21 plus shipping. The cheapest shipping was priority two day, $14.
I hope this helps.
