i am inserting a new NVME SSD to this machine. the machne does NOT HAVE the fastening screw.
here (photo) is motherboard, with connector for base at right red arrow, and left end that screws down has other red arrow, i need exact screw size for this, and if HP has this as spare part so it is exact, and not a mismatched knockoff.
thanks

Hi:
This service video describes the size of the M.2 SSD screw.
The secondary M.2 SSD section of the video starts at minute 10:27.
Looking at the parts surfer website, I do not see that any screws are listed as spare parts.

Thanbks !! 4mm P1 philips screw.
NOW, another PARTS question. it states to remove the 2.5 drive bay. My machine (NEW) does NOT HAVE the HARD DRIVE CAGE, or the HARD DRIVE CONNECTOR. I am fighting with HP to provide this (it is in the spec's, and HP rep stated it was included, i have documentation of the responses). IS thiese two parts (hard drive cage, and hard drive connector, and associated screws) availiable in a parts list/order section?
I got these machines 3 days ago. II have put 20 hours into them, combined, to configure them to what i wanted. ONLY after that did i open the cover, to add my 2nd drive, to find that the BAY was missing.
I do NOT WANT TO RETURN the machines, because they ARE WORKING WELL ,and FAST, and i've spent too much time tweaking them.
any assistance appreciated, thanks

addendum, confused after thinking about it.
4mm, ios that diameter, or length? and P1 is actually the definition of the philips head size, (the screwdriver bit blade that gets used), not a thread size of length size.
SO, if anyone else has other info, or you can help clarify, it is appreciated

You're very welcome, Nick.
I had the same problem with an 800 G3 DM.
It had the hard drive cage & 2.5" SSD but I wanted a NVMe SSD and of course, there was no screw.
The service video for my PC indicated P1 but no length or anything.
There was this removable plate that was underneath the 2.5" SSD that was attached with two tiny Philips head screws.
I watched the video to remove and replace that plate as well as the SSD and they referenced the P1 screw for both parts.
Since I had no intention of using the 2.5" drive, I removed the plate and tested the screw in the M.2 SSD standoff, and it fit perfectly. I left the plate out, installed the SSD and put the one screw I didn't need back in one of the holes where the plate secured to so that it didn't get lost.
I see that the video for your PC for the hard drive cage shows one part and the bottom plate is not removable, but part of the whole assembly.
I agree with you that the 'P1" is the Philips head size, not the diameter.
The diameter is more like 2mm the 4.0 is the length of the screw.
I doubt it has to be that long 3 or 3.5mm should be fine..
I am pretty sure that the screw holding down my SSD from that hard drive plate is not 4 mm long.
Regarding your other question about the hard drive cage assembly...I can't find a part number for it.
But here is a listing for one on eBay.
HP EliteDesk 800 ProDesk 400 600 G6 G8 Mini Hard Drive Caddy with SATA Cable 1Tb | eBay
You'd have to enter your PC's product number in the part surfer site to see what comes up.
There are hundreds of 800 G6 DMs listed and I randomly clicked on a few of them, and they all came with M.2 SSDs and no parts were listed for the hard drive cage.

thanks ! I just ordered a kit of screws, M2, M2.5, M3, and various liengths. I can use it for something...
I saw the ebay listing but as HP lists this as an included part, i will fight tooth and nail to get them to honor that.
(I had a prior dell, that was freezing, i spent 200 tech emails back and forth to get it to TRY and work , and finally filed bbb and atty general complaint, and got my money back).
THIS HP machine works, it is fast, i like it very much, but i want that part which the HP REP, on teh BestBuy question site, indicated was included.
but main thing is that while i wait for this part, i put in a 2tb NVME SSD, made it drive D, bitlocked it, and copied all my data over, and it is flying !
i will get the correct screw for that NVME, and hopefully this thread helps others !
