HP ENVY 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c0000 (388P6AV)

My HP ENVY 34 All in One PC makes a constant noise much like a miniature 2 stroke motor engine; Any one familiar with this issue should please assist. I do not think it is fan noise as I have adjusted the thermal settings of the computer using the HP Command Center software which changed the fan noise; the fan noise is distinct from this particular noise. I suspect it is the storage drive within the PC but not sure.

I have gone through all online suggestions; BIOS Update, discharge the capacitance of the PC's power button (which actually reduced the noise for a while but it is back up again and subsequent capacitance discharge proved unfruitful), etc.

There may be dust in the fan blades or even a fan bearing issue causing the noise.

I can't say that I have ever heard of a hard drive making a noise like one you describe.

My own preference is solid state drives. They have no electromechanical parts at all.

An SSD would be a fantastic upgrade for your All-In-One PC.

Thank  you for you reply.
Is it advisable to try to disable the fan to see if the noise stops in order to determine whether the source of the noise is the fan?

HP Recommended

No.

That is not really advisable.

A better plan would be to inspect the fan.

Noted. I will inspect the fan as you advise.

Thank you once again.

Thank you so much for your reply and suggestion

My computer's operating drive is an SSD as I have confirmed via it's BIOS. I did a fan speed and thermal test which confirmed that the noise is associated with the fan as it increased in volume as the Fan rpm increased during the test. If what you said is correct that the noise is due to dust or fan bearing issue, I will have to send the computer back to HP for servicing; I will make sure I mention your suspicion to HP Chat when I contact them as any software or firmware upgrade will not solve a hardware related issue.
