My Pavilion Desktop PC (TP01-2022) did not come with an optical drive and I would like to add one. There is a [covered] slot in the front panel that resembles a laptop (narrow) drive oriented vertically. I've seen in setup manuals that a drive may be mounted there, but I can't find any specifics about the part number or specifications (for non-HP drives). Does anyone have access to the part number for the drive HP would typically install in this system or should I just shoot from the hip and order a laptop-style drive and see if it works?
Any other recommendations or input on this subject is appreciated.
UPDATE: I've continued searching for useful info, but have found 2 part nos. that may be the correct drive: L76886-001 and L71040-006.

You did not include the product number for your desktop PC. That would have helped.
When you do not identify your desktop or laptop PC, you tie our hands behind our backs. Help us to help you.
When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.
That will open the Windows run dialogue
Type in msinfo32 and press enter.
The ninth line is the SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.
The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.
I would just purchase an external USB Samsung DVD-Rewriter and plug it in.
Of the two you asked about, L76886-001 appears to be used in the TP01-2000 series, so it is the best candidate for an internal unit. As far as sourcing the connector for it that is going to be tricky.
My reference source for the ODD info

I took a look at many TPO01-2000 series desktop PC's but did not find one with the ODD included.
