So I have a samsung ssd plugged into the m2 socket but I cannot initialize the hard drive because it is nowhere displayed. what am I doing wrong.

you  need to tell where the SSD is plugged INTO first.

the boot drive or 2nd drive, not told.

most or some PCs have two, m.2 slots

may the 2nd slot only does NIC cards.

not ssd.

to know this only read the spec on your PC, for slots.

bingo>?

HP Slim Desktop 290-p0xxx

you forgot the XXX number making any answers wrong super easy

  • Expansion Slots:
    • One M.2 socket 1, 2230 type for WLAN  (this means no SSD allowed)
    • One M.2 socket 3, 2280 type for SSD (boot)

NO warranty answers by me.
