hi, have a new desktop and have been having issues with gaming, the latest is what has been a sporadic noise I hear occasionally like a fan starting up, but jsut installed a new game and as soon as I start this game game this noise starts and wont stop unless i alt tab from game or close game  (guild wars 2)

sound is like bacon frying or scraping, hard to id  it - went through support with nvidia and they say its not their fans but maybe the cpu cooler making a noise? is this normal? i have never had a water cooler before so not sure what it really is,

inspected case all fans seem to work and no wires are touching

Hi,

You need to provide a better product number. Check the chassis: side or bottom of the chassis for the product number or look (Here) for ways to find the product number. Maybe someone else can assist using the correct product number.

I can't see what hardware you have using the product number you have provided. It is also difficult to troubleshoot this type of error in a forum.

Most HP consumer PC have one fan attached to the AIO cooling radiator. I don't know how Nvidia could ascertain the graphics card fan(s) is/are not doing this.

Fans running at high speed don't usually make a bacon frying or scraping sound unless a fan is out of balance which could causing a scraping sound. A bacon frying sound could be caused by aeration in the AIO CPU liquid cooling pump. This is not good and will cause premature degradation of the pump.

You could have a power supply problem.

Contact HP Support (Link) for warranty service.

hi and thank you for the quick reply, here's more detail (this was only delivered 9 days ago )

Product name : OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-0xxx

Product number : 236B5AV

Processor name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz

The reason I posted on the forum was that I could not get a support chat started  (it was mid-day and likely busy) and I was unable to navigate to tech support to send an email with my issue--- I think they make it hard to contact anyone IMHO

My non-expert opinion is there is a problem with the CPU liquid cooling pump because I have never heard that noise before and I have owned a LOT of computes but never with a CPU cooler

I also have a problem with New World game, there is an alarm of sort  (I am not clear what the source is yet)) from the PC that happens when it heats up, partially fixed by limiting fps to 50, but will still happen if monitor goes  dark, HP blamed the game, but I worry because there is yet another game that cannot start without causing that alarm.

I will try to get through to support contact and ask for guidance but in the meantime, very much appreciate your help

Hi,

You're very welcome.

You should have a product return option if the PC was delivered nine days ago. I have seen other comments on how tough it is to contact HP Support for help.

You have a bad piece of hardware. It is very difficult to determine what piece of hardware needs replacing in a forum.

You could check the graphics card by removing it. Then use integrated graphics to see if the heat and noise problem stops. You can't do heavy gaming but the noise may stop when the card is gone. You may have a AIO CPU pump problem or a fan problem if the noise persists after removing the graphics card.

Download Intel Burn Test at this (Link). Unzip the file. Run this test to check the CPU. You can also download FurMark to stress test the graphics card at this site.
