Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I'm Stefano'71, I'd like to ask for help.
I bought a pc with i5 processor, but the dvd-rom doesn't work. : hp DVD-ROM SN-108FB
I wanted to ask with does it work with windows 11 ?   I can't find the drives for example, will that also be the failure?!
Thanks a lot for any help.

You may be able to install a completely different dvd cd player, another model, if it is equivalent!
a newer one
if the replacement is too complicated, an external usb cd/dvd player may do just fine

This device only plays DVDs and cannot write.

I think it was made for Dell.

More information can be provide by Nero's "infotool"

I do not know what system you have but if you have a desktop and a slot for a full size Optical Drive you might consider getting a Blu-Ray recorder/player as  they are in the $50 USD range.  DVDFab has an excellent Blu-Ray player.  As I recall Window 10 & 11 cannot handle Blu-Ray but can play DVD only.

Unaccountably, windows media player cannot play Blue Ray.  There are a number of free Blue Ray players such as VLC which @itsmyname PM'ed me about. I find it strange that windows 10, 11 can write (burn) blue ray easily but need a 3rd party app to play.

I know the Vlc options very well practically since my first computer, not a scoop for me 😋
Under windows 11 there is the new drive, I did not check the possible options
But what is not known here anyway, finally what is possible or not
I'm waiting for the information requested, otherwise, too bad, I'll turn the page

sorry for the delay in responding.

yes on w 11 it doesn't work for me, and if I'm not mistaken neither on w 10
(shortly after or changed from 10 to 11)

but ... the DVD is probably faulty ....

I was wondering if knowing this dvd name .... you find it working new ...

I will probably have to replace it. (here they cost about € 25)

thank you, this seems different from the classics, I'm not sure, I shouldn't have difficulty taking it apart and reassembling it .... then I try. (actually I already have an external DVD, it was to have it healthy even in my pc, even if 98% I don't need it) .. I'll see ...

Thank you very much from Italy (Rome) .... Peace and Health. 👍
