I have a problem with the frequency. When I have my laptop charging, like plugged in, the frequency stays stuck at 0.40ghz on the CPU, when I'm on normal battery it increases to over 5ghz. Can you help me?

Hi @5CD0027BTT
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It seems like your laptop's CPU frequency is being limited when plugged in, which could be related to the power settings or configurations in your operating system or BIOS.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Adjust Power Settings in Windows
Check Power Plan Settings:
- Right-click on the battery icon in the system tray and select "Power Options."
- Ensure that you are using the "High Performance" or "Balanced" power plan.
- Click on "Change plan settings" next to your selected plan.
- Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Expand "Processor power management" and ensure that both "Minimum processor state" and "Maximum processor state" are set to 100% when plugged in.
Edit Power Options:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Click on "Additional power settings."
- Ensure that the appropriate power plan is selected and configured correctly.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Update BIOS:
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your laptop model (HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0010nq) to find the latest BIOS update.
- Download and install the update following the instructions provided.
Update Drivers:
- On the same HP support page, make sure all your drivers, especially chipset and CPU, are up to date.
Check BIOS Settings
Access BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the BIOS key (usually F10) when the HP logo appears.
- Enter the BIOS settings menu.
Power Management Settings:
- Navigate to the power management section of the BIOS.
- Ensure that power-saving features like Intel SpeedStep Technology and other power throttling settings are configured correctly.
- Save any changes and exit the BIOS.
Thermal Management
- Monitor Temperatures:
- Use software like HWMonitor or CPUID to check if your laptop's CPU temperature is within normal ranges when plugged in.
- Overheating could cause the CPU to throttle down to prevent damage.
Following these steps should help you identify and resolve the issue with the CPU frequency being limited when your laptop is plugged in.
