Of course, my touch screen does not work. For about a year now, I've been searching for an answer, to no avail. the bots on this site are useless, as they post the same steps over and over: update the drivers.

I have no drivers in Device Manager to update. All tests come back normal becuase my laptop doesn't know I'm supposed to have a touchscreen, I guess.

When I hit F2 and run the tests for the touch screen, it works great; just not once Windows boots up.

This leads me to think I need to DL the drivers, but I've downloaded all I can find on this site (HP has no touch screen drivers that I can find) and Microsoft (I've downloaded every driver I can find for Windows 7-10. All say there is an error during install).

**edit: possible, pertinent information: the screen also no longer rotates when moving to portrait or tablet mode. It used to rotate/orientate itself depending on which way I was holding the laptop. Now it just acts like a normal screen.

I believe this all began after the last update, maybe the one before (I loose track, now that Windows downloads/installs updates without my knowledge).

I'm lost and refuse to buy a new laptop just to have the feature work.

Ideas that don't involve updating drivers that don't exist? LOL

i would first update the bios if nessary, then remove the current video drivers and either reinstall the HP one or the latest Intel one for the BayTrail cpu

HP bios/video (thiis is a older driver version)

Intel video (newer baytrail driver, but may not have custom options that HP driver has, Try and see)

BIOS is up to date. I have to admit I'm nervous to start deleting drivers..I keep reading horror stories of computers not working correctly, after.

But...I'm at my wits end and about willing to try anything.

just read the help file that comes with the bios first

the video driver is quite simple, first disconnect from the internet (disconnect the network cable or disable wireless, go to control panel select the video driver and select uninstall, reboot and then install the HP or intel driver that you previously downloaded check the display features if working reconnect the internet if not uninstall and try the other driver and if this works,.... again reconnect to the internet

So, turns out I'm not skilled enough to know which drivers to delete. I'll wait until I can find someone to give me a hand.

Thanks for the heads up!
