New machine was sent back because power button stopped working. Repair seems good. However, as I was carrying machine to my office, I hear something clanging inside. I open it and there are 3 separate cables dangling- plugged in at one place but then NOT attached to anything else. One plug has imprinted on it SERIAL ATA, another LuXshare, and the third has nothing imprinted on the plastic part of the plug. It seems there is NO WAY to actually just ask a technician a question to resolve this. Customer service has no technical knowledge; they are kind enough to send me a box to return it again which to me seems a needless expense for a business to ship it from PA to TX again. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE ON WHETHER THESE 3 DANGLING CABLES NEED TO BE ATTACHED ANYWHERE? Or know of a way to just ask a simple question to a tech person or find a schematic of what's inside? Thanks for any help you may provide.

Hello
There may be nothing abnormal
You may have additional power cables or other connectors
for example SERIAL ATA a hard disk cable
simple to check, if you have a hard drive, and it doesn't work, it's probably not connected with this cable!
but if it works it can be for a hard drive to add
Since you have opened the computer, if not already turn it on, if all the fans are working, possibly LEDs, and all the peripherals, you probably don't need to worry about this.
Try to place them correctly, if somehow anyhow

Thank you for taking the time to respond. You confirmed my thoughts on this topic. It seems to me that HP's business model is essentially flawed in that it does not provide an ombudsman that can provide a quick answer to a reasonably simple question. Their solution was to send the machine a thousand miles each way to wrap up the cords inside. So much for corporate America pontification on carbon neutrality. Small business, America's only path to revival, would never operate this inefficiently.

@G1865 -- It seems there is NO WAY to actually just ask a technician a question to resolve this
Since you were carrying around your computer, you could have taken it to any local computer store. Try to find an "owner/operator" small business in your town. They can instantly, and maybe for free, look at those cables. Or, maybe for a minimal "inspection fee" for 15 to 30 minutes of their trouble-shooting.
Or, since this forum allows you to upload pictures taken by your smart-phone, a few good pictures of the ends of the cables could be viewed by the contributors, at absolutely no cost to you.
