HP Slimline Desktop - 270-a029

I have a HP Slimline Desktop - 270-a029 that I replaced the drive in, WD blue SSD.  Trying to boot from the Windows 10 bootable USB, the computer just keeps reboot.  Boots, show HP logo on screen, screen goes black, reboots, repeat.

I am trying to update the BIOS.  I downloaded the latest bios fro this system, F.29 Rev.A, Jul 13, 2020, ran the install to create recovery USB. On the HP slimline system, I boot, press ESC, then F2 diagnostics, plug in the USB with bios update, nothing happens. The instructions say just plug in the USB from the diagnostics menu.

How do I update the BIOS without windows installed?

BIOS update instructions:

Thanks for replying.  I put "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI" on the usb drive and booted with that.  It let me update the bios successfully and I was then able to boot and install Windows 10.  Thanks.

Hello @korazy

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

(1) Power off computer

(2) Disconnect power cable

(3) Disconnect hard drive and <USB flash drive>

(4Press and hold <power> button for 30 seconds

(5) Connect power cable

(6) Power on computer ( without hard drive connected ! )

(7) What happens ?
