I upgraded my P6654y with a 500W PSU with 2 12v 18A rails. I wanted to also use a GTX 750 Ti pulled from another PC. It sorta works but causes problems with the KB freezing up. Seemingly the PSU provides sufficient power thru the 6 pin PCI-e connector. I have tried both with and without using the +4 pin to the main mobo main power connector. The 750 is PCI Express 3.0 and does not specifically say it is backwards to compatible to PCI Express (1.0). Is this the reason I am having problems? Is there any way to get it to work?

@Tambourine-man, welcome to the forum.
The problem that you are experiencing is caused by the fact that the GTX 750 Ti is not compatible with the motherboard. It requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a Legacy/standard BIOS. The BIOS can't be upgraded to UEFI. The last cards not to require UEFI were the GTX 660/670 series.
Your best option is, choose a manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for your system.

Thanks. I don't recall seeing UEFI as a system requirement. Fortunately I also have an old GeForce GTX 460 hainging around somewhere (if I can find it - LOL). That will be 10 times faster than the HD 4200, but I don't care so much about speed, etc., I just want a card so I doesn't use system memory.

I alrready replied and gave kudos. Wow! I cannot believe you have over nineteen thousand posts! Anyway I gota followup asking if I accepted the solution. I don't like the answer but unfortunateyl it is a resolution and fortunately I have an alternative (and if the GTX 460 doesn't work I also have a 9800 GT and 9600 that I do know where they are and have got to be legacy BIOS compatible. Anyway I didn't see an option to say the reply is accepted and I don't see one now. If I click the thumbs up agin it says it will remove the the kudo.

No, you didn't Accept the Solution. One of the Mods made that decision. The reason for the GTX 750 Ti not working is the reason that I stated.
Yes, I have been on the Forums for many years. I actually began in the old Forums back in 2002. At that point they didn't keep track of Posts and Solutions. The figures that you see have been accrued since 2008.
