I used a Blue Snowball mic on my old computer with no issues. Win 10. Lower powered power supply.

This Hp has 3 usb ports in back in use. When I plug in the mic either front or back I get an overload error.

Assuming the Blue Snowball mic has not failed for some reason and it still works on other equipment, then the solution would/might be to use a powered USB hub.  This will cause the load on the PC's USB ports to not be overloaded because the powered hub will be providing the power.

Assuming the Blue Snowball mic uses USB 2.0 and there are USB 2.0 ports on that model PC, be sure you are not using the SuperSpeed ports.  If that does not solve the problem, then try a powered USB hub

My question is about why can't I plug in the mic on a powerful and expensive computer with plenty of ports when my old computer had no issues.

Depending on the USB port being used, it should be able to power the microphone as USB 3 is supposed to be able to carry more current, as opposed to USB 2.0.

First I would verify that the mic will still work on a different PC.  Then make sure you are using the correct USB port on this newer PC.  Just because the plug will fit does not mean a USB 2.0 device should work in all USB ports.

Good idea.
