HP Slim Desktop PC S01-aF2000i (52Z17AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP S01-aF2003w. Product 318K1AA. It's basically a HP Slim Desktop PC S01-aF2000i (52Z17AV). I tried to move a video window to full screen and the display got stuck between the two in a frozen, flickering display. I had to do a hard reboot. No problem and all is well but I wonder if there's a video board upgrade for this model. Can anyone tell me if that's possible and what product to buy? Seems to me there's an expansion slot in there but there probably aren't a lot of options.

@JohnK64,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Slim Desktop S01-aF2003w PC (318K1AA), according to: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=318K1AA, is either fitted with a BakerMS2 motherboard (SSID: 8768), which looks like this:

Or is fitted with a BohemiaCR motherboard (SSID: 8648), which looks like this:

If you got the latter, there are no graphics upgrades possible.

Please let me know which motherboard is installed in your desktop.

Kind Regards,

If I swap out boards and keep my SSD drive, would that be a painless upgrade?

@JohnK64,

Your response suggests to me that you got the BohemiaCR motherboard -please verify.

If it does, even if the front/rear I/O ports etc. of the BakerMS2 motherboard line up in your case/chassis -and to be honest, it looks like it could based on the pictures in my previous post, the difference between the two motherboards couldn't be more different: for starters, different processor, different RAM, and a different power supply:

So, to answer your question: no, unfortunately it wouldn't be a painless upgrade.

Mine has the laptop memory so it's the lesser of the two boards, so no video upgrades. Oh, well. It's not a bad little computer but was crying out for upgrades out of the box.
